Scotland U21 men squad announced for Wales test series
The Scotland U21 men’s squad has been announced for their test series against Wales U21 in Glasgow this weekend.
Scotland U21 men are building towards EuroHockey Junior Championship II (men) in July and are deep into their preparations for their drive for promotion. At the tournament in Plzen Litice, Czech Republic, Scotland will play in a Pool with Portugal; Russia; and Italy in July.
The Scots are on the back of a successful Club All Series that saw the U21s play three competitive games against All Star teams made up from National League players.
Wales U21 men will provide further competitive action for the Scots as the Euros approach.
Scotland U21 Men Head Coach Graham Moodie said, “We have three U21 players representing the seniors at the FIH Series Finals (Cameron Golden, Callum MacKenzie & Aidan McQuade), as well as Andrew McConnell representing Great Britain U21 in an eight nations tournament in Madrid this week. With this in mind and selection for our Europeans coming after this weekend, it’s an important weekend for the squad and an opportunity for the players to impress.
“We are looking forward to welcoming Wales to Glasgow and expect three tough matches. It’s great to have home matches and our aim is to build on what we have learnt from the All Stars Series and continue to develop of our principles and style of play ahead of the Europeans.”
