Scotland U21 Men Make It Three Wins from Three with Victory Over Czechia

Scotland’s U21 Men continued their perfect run in the EuroHockey U21 Men’s Championship II-B with a 4-2 victory over Czechia in Plzen Litice, securing a third consecutive win and a place in Saturday’s final.

Scotland made a strong start, earning three penalty corners inside the opening three minutes. Jamie Green converted one of those opportunities to give Scotland an early 1-0 lead, but the advantage lasted only a minute as Stepan Smid equalised for Czechia in the fourth minute.

The men in blue then regained their lead in the 20th minute when Green struck from another penalty corner to make it 2-1 before Czechia were shown a green card a minute later.

Joshua Love extended Scotland’s advantage in the 25th minute, giving his side a two-goal cushion heading into the second half.

Scotland successfully defended another Czechia penalty corner at the start of the third quarter before adding a fourth goal in the final minute of the period, with Angus Millar finding the net to make it 4-1.

Rory Steedman received a green card in the 49th minute, and Czechia capitalised from the resulting penalty corner through Matyas Hana to reduce the deficit to 4-2.

A green card for Czechia in the 56th minute and a late yellow card for Scotland’s Archie Stephen were the final notable moments before the full-time whistle confirmed a 4-2 victory.

The result means Scotland finish the group stage with three wins from three and will face Czechia again in the EuroHockey U21 Men’s Championship II-B final on Saturday at 11:15am.
