Scotland U18 squads face Wales this weekend

Scotland U18 Boys and Girls will continue their preparations for forthcoming European competitions this summer when they play Wales in two internationals at Forthbank, Stirling on 5 & 6 April.
Elanor Cormack, Scotland U18 Boys Manager, said, “The matches against Wales are our first competitive outings this season in preparation for the EuroHockey Youth Nations Championship in Vienna this summer. We also have matches against Ulster and British Universities coming up as we build towards the competition in July.
“We’ve selected newer members of the U18 squad for these games to allow the coaches to view these players as we consider selection for Europe later in the year. Of course, we also want to win these matches and will be preparing the players to do so.”
Following this weekend’s Four Nations tournament against England, Germany and the Netherlands, Scotland U18 Girls will continue their build-up to the EuroHockey Youth Nations Championship II against their Welsh counterparts.
Colin Clarke, Scotland U18 Girls Head Coach, said, “The games are an excellent opportunity for the squad to play together and put our ideas and skills into practice against an A Division side. The games against Wales are always competitive and I expect these to continue in that vein.
“Results are not the objective in these matches it is all about our processes and how the girls learn and have the confidence to express themselves in international competition. Our target is to create individual decision makers within a cohesive group and these games will enable the coaches to assess where we are on our development pathway.”
