Scotland U18 Girls’ squad announced for EuroHockey Championships
Selection has been made for the Scotland U18 Girls’ squad competing at the U18 Girls’ EuroHockey Championships in Krefeld, Germany.
The Scots will take to the pitch to go toe-to-toe with Germany; Belgium; France; and Ireland in Pool A with the top two entering the race for winning the championship, while the others join the relegation battle.
Belgium will be Scotland’s first opponents in the first match of the girls’ tournament, and will be an exciting contest to kick start Scotland’s appearance at the top table of European hockey.
Head Coach Kelly Fillingham said, “We have a fantastic opportunity ahead of us to compete with the best European U18 nations at the European A Division in a few weeks’ time. The squad and staff have worked incredibly hard over the last month to prepare, and there is a real desire from the players to show our identity as Scotland players over there in Germany.
“It’s a tough group with Germany, Belgium, Ireland and France and I expect very competitive games. We feel we have an opportunity with the exciting squad of players we have, to enjoy a strong tournament. Every time we compete against the top nations, we improve, and the aim is to build on the excellent work done by the squad at Easter at the 4 Nations, and take further steps forward in our development.”
