Scotland Men’s U21s Open EuroHockey Championship II-B Campaign with a Convincing Victory Over Wales

Scotland Men’s U21s got their EuroHockey Championship II-B campaign off to the perfect start with an impressive 7-1 victory over Wales in Plzen Litice, Czechia.

Scotland made a dream start, taking the lead just three minutes into the opening quarter through Jamie Green. Wales responded with a series of penalty corners and eventually found an equaliser through James Niven. The scores remained level only briefly, however, as Sam Hunt converted a penalty corner just a minute later to restore Scotland’s advantage and give them a 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter saw Scotland continue to apply pressure, with Wales receiving two green cards before Tommy Austin extended the lead in the 26th minute. Just a minute later, Oliver Wilson added a fourth to send Scotland into the second half in a commanding position.

Scotland maintained their momentum after the break. Wilson grabbed his second goal of the match in the 39th minute before Joshua Love added another two minutes later to make it 6-1. Green then completed the scoring with his second goal of the game in the 57th minute, sealing an emphatic 7-1 victory.

The result gives Scotland the perfect start to their EuroHockey Championship II-B campaign, with their next fixture coming against Turkey tomorrow at 3pm.
