Scotland Men’s U21 Make It Two Wins From Two At EuroHockey Championships II-B

Scotland Men’s U21 continued their impressive start to the EuroHockey Championships II-B with a 5-2 victory over Türkiye in Plzeň-Litice, Czechia.

Following Tuesday’s convincing 7-1 win over Wales, Scotland produced another strong performance to secure back-to-back victories and maintain their momentum in the tournament.

Tommy Austin gave Scotland the perfect start, opening the scoring just three minutes into the opening quarter. Türkiye threatened from a pair of penalty corners midway through the first quarter but were unable to find a breakthrough, while Scotland were also unable to convert a late penalty corner before the interval.

Scotland extended their advantage early in the second quarter when Austin converted from the penalty spot to score his second of the match. Just a minute later, Findlay Duncan added a third goal from a penalty corner.

Türkiye pulled a goal back through Aydin Sahin in the 25th minute, but Scotland quickly restored their three-goal cushion as Archie Stephen found the net from another penalty corner before half-time.

Türkiye reduced the deficit once again in the third quarter when Mehmet Aydin converted a penalty corner to make it 4-2. Kyle Flockhart received a green card late in the third period before returning to score Scotland’s fifth goal in the 52nd minute, sealing an impressive 5-2 victory.

Scotland’s second consecutive win sees them continue their strong start to the competition. They return to action on Friday at 9:00am, when they take on hosts Czechia in their third match of the tournament.
