Scotland men’s squad to play Wales
Scotland men are back in action as they travel to Cardiff to play Wales in a three-match test series. The matches will be new head coach Jonny Caren’s first matches in charge since recently joining Scottish Hockey, and will also see a number of talented youngsters making their first appearances for Scotland men.
The squad for Wales is a blend between youth and experience with the likes of Alan Forsyth and Lee Morton alongside young talent like Tommy Austin, AJ Lochrin and Keir Robb featuring.
The matches are also part of preparations for a huge summer of competition for the squad as Scotland travel to Dublin for Men’s EuroHockey Championship II on 23-29 July.
Switzerland will be Scotland’s first opponents in Dublin before they meet Italy and Turkey to complete the matches in Pool B.
Head Coach Jonny Caren said, “After our short training block together, working on some key principles, we now look forward to the opportunity of applying these against quality opposition, in Wales.
“With this Scottish squad selected, we have a very exciting mix of experience and youth. Our Great Britain representatives re-join for the first time this summer in Cardiff, so it will be the first chance they have to meet and connect with our newest members of the senior panel.
“These three matches allow us to observe and analyse who connects well, both on and off the pitch, and who is fully invested in driving this talented team forward to the next level.”
