Scotland men strike goals aplenty against Korea in Santiago
Scotland men clocked up their first ever win over Korea in an 8-2 victory at the FIH World Cup Qualifiers in Santiago.
Scotland burst out the traps quickly. Lee Morton tore forward and played the ball out left for Tommy Austin, but his fizzed pass across goal evaded all attackers.
The opener for Scotland soon arrived and it was a Jamie Golden drag flick into the bottom left corner that made it 1-0.
The game was only four minutes old when Struan Walker made it 2-0 with a ferocious volley into the net as the Blue Sticks piled on the pressure.
A blink of an eye later and it was 3-0 when Walker fired home a tremendous tomahawk finish after Scotland opened Korea up down the right.
Korea pulled one back with a low drag flick from Duhyun Lin for 3-1.
The Korean comeback continued with a sublime top corner finish by Cheon Min Su to pull it back to 3-2 for a five goal opening quarter.
The second quarter started with a goal and it was Walker who bagged his hat-trick to put Scotland 4-2 ahead.
Jamie Golden then converted another penalty corner strike to further Scotland’s advantage to 5-2.
A moment of magic from Andy McConnell saw him burst into the circle and smash it low into the bottom right corner for 6-2.
The final quarter began with another early goal and it was Walker on target again to bag his fourth of the match to make it 7-2.
Golden bagged his own hat-trick with a thunderous drag flick into the bottom right corner for 8-2.
