England took an early lead when they found the net in the fourth minute of the match, but Scotland immediately came fighting back. Scotland did some good work to enter the circle on the right and found Charlotte Barr at the far post to equalise. 1-1.
In the second quarter England went 2-1 ahead, but like the opening quarter, Scotland came back.
The Scots burst forward and created a two versus one opportunity, and Charlotte Robertson dummied a pass, went past the goalkeeper, and slotted home to make it 2-2.
The third quarter saw the visitors take advantage of some slackness to go 4-2 ahead, but Scotland was never out of the contest, and created good chances of their own, but there would be no further goals. They meet again tomorrow at Uddingston.
Scotland Emerging boys 0-6 England
Scotland Emerging Boys’ lost 6-0 to England at Uddingston in a match that saw promising moments from Scotland against a top English side.
England struck twice in the opening quarter, but things could have taken a different turn. After the England opener a Scottish penalty corner drag flick went just wide of the target. Then moments later, Findlay Duncan had a shot zip just wide of the mark.
Shortly after Scotland’s two opportunities, England showed their clinical abilities when they went forward and struck again for 2-0.
There was a goal for England in the third, and fourth quarters, and the damage was mainly done through penalty corners. The Scots did well to limit open play opportunities, and competed well for periods of the match, but England enjoyed a 6-0 win in the end.
