Sarah Robertson scores on 50th GB cap to secure Pro League win
Sarah Robertson scored on her 50th Great Britain appearance to hand the women a 2-1 win over Belgium in the FIH Hockey Pro League.
The midfielder swept home a corner at the end of the third quarter to secure the victory, following another neat deflection goal from Lily Owsley in the opening quarter before Barbara Nelen levelled for the hosts shortly after.
However the score line was reversed in the men’s match, featuring Scotland’s Alan Forsyth, as the men fell to a second consecutive narrow defeat to the reigning world champions.
David Condon had given Danny Kerry’s side the lead in the 10th minute but goals from John-John Domen and Alexander Hendrickx turned the game on its head as Belgium cemented their place at the top of the table.
Both Great Britain’s men and women are scheduled to be back in action against Germany on 14-15 November. These games are set to take place behind closed doors at Bisham Abbey but will be shown live on BT Sport.
