Round-Up: Men’s National Indoor League
The Men’s National Indoor League programme resumed today with fixtures in Division 1, Central and Midland & North.
Men’s National Indoor League Division 1
League leaders Inverleith and defending champions Grove Menzieshill both consolidated their positions at the top of Division 1 following comprehensive wins during the men’s indoor session at Forthbank, Stirling this afternoon.
The capital outfit scored 21 goals in the process of defeating PSL Team Sport Clydesdale (11-5) and Western Wildcats (10-2). Meanwhile, Chris Anderson’s side brushed aside the same opposition 8-1 and 12-1 to leave the Taysiders only one point behind Inverleith, who remain in pole position.
Meanwhile, Grange leapfrogged Glynhill Hotel Kelburne courtesy of a 7-3 victory over the Paisley side and a 8-6 win over bottom-side Harris Academy FP. However, Kelburne’s 6-3 success over Dundee Wanderers keeps them three points ahead of the Dundonians.
Harris Academy FP continue to prop up the table following a 7-5 loss to Wanderers and are in desperate need of points if they are to have any chance of beating the drop.
Men’s National Indoor League Central Division
Glasgow University narrowed the gap on Edinburgh University to two points with a 6-3 win over the league leaders and a 8-2 defeat of Alpha Data Carnegie in today’s Central Division session.
Edinburgh University remain on top after defeating Waverley Inveresk Trinity (8-5) in their second match.
Despite a 11-3 win over CALA Edinburgh II, PSL Team Sport Clydesdale dropped into third following a loss to Grange (7-5) in their second match of the day.
At the foot of the table, CALA’s 8-6 loss at the hands of East Kilbride means they and Waverley Inveresk Trinity, who lost their first match of the day 6-4 to Alpha Data Carnegie, conceded ground to Grange. The Edinburgh side’s 5-3 win over East Kilbride eased them away from the two clubs at the bottom of the league.
Men’s National Indoor League Midland & North Division
In a packed Midland & North Division indoor session, Perthshire retained their 100% record in the league with wins over AAM Gordonians II (8-1), Stirling Wanderers (9-2) and Granite City Wanderers II (10-4).
Aberdeen GSFP remain in second after wins over Harris Academy FP II (11-2) and Dundee Wanderers III (9-1). Wanderers remain pointless in last place after losing 3-0 to Harris Academy FP II.
AAM Gordonians II defeated city rivals Granite City Wanderers II (5-1) but were held to a 6-6 draw by Stirling Wanderers, who also recorded a 6-4 win over Granite City Wanderers II.
