Relegation looms in the lower pool of the Premiership
Hillhead women emerged victorious from the relegation tussle against Fjordhus Reivers with a convincing 3-0 score, the goals came from Lucy Langlands, Emma Blackstock and Julia Baldwin. It now seems that the Borderers look like making an immediate return to the second tier while Hillhead are now five points clear but still the same behind Inverleith to avoid the play-off position.
Inverleith were on the wrong end of a 4-1 defeat at the hands of St Andrews University who extended their lead at the top of the lower section of the Premiership. Once again Liz Agatucci was lethal in the circle with a couple while Hannah Coull and Mary Kate Barbee were also on target.
In the other match Grange moved up to eighth with a 4-0 home win over Uddingston, scorers here were Ella Mundell, Izzy Alexander, Rachel Sheil and Larissa Hogg.
In the men`s Premiership Dunfermline Carnegie are falling even further behind after a 3-0 defeat at Dundee Wanderers. Kennedy Gibb was the main striker with a couple and Greg Jamieson got the other.
The Fifers are now six points behind Inverleith who scored their second win of the season with a 3-1 home win over Grove Menzieshill. This was the Edinburgh side`s best result of the season as Thomas Barton, Andrew Clark and Hamish Norval pushed them into a three goal lead before veteran Ross McPherson notched a consolation with a deft deflection into the roof of the net at a penalty corner.
Uddingston now drop down to third bottom, only two points ahead of Inverleith, after going down 4-2 to Clydesdale – their goals came from Finlay Campbell and Jedd Campbell. The Dale now join Grove Menzieshill at the top of the lower section on 15 points and a similar goal difference.
