No goals against Wales in GBSL

GREAT BRITAIN SUPER LEAGUE – LILLIESHALL

The Great Britain Super League has not been a happy
hunting ground for Scotland`s under 21 sides as they start the
build-up for the European Junior Nations Championships later this
summer.   Both squads, men and women, only won one game
in eight over the two weekends, and both finished in bottom
spot.

Having already beaten Wales 3-0 in the pool match, women`s coach
Dave Stott might have expected something like a repeat performance
today in the third place play-off against the same
outfit.   But this time the young Scots went down 3-0 to
finish with the wooden spoon.  The Scots were a goal down at
the interval and the Welsh proceeded to score two more in the
second half.

Graham Moodie, newly appointed coach to Scotland`s under 21
side, now knows he has a mountain of work in front of him as the
former Olympian watched his young charges lose 3-0 to Wales in the
third place play-off.   The most worrying factor is that
his youngsters failed to win a penalty corner or create any open
play chances during the entire contest.   The new coach
has four months to lick his charges into shape to compete with the
likes of Germany, Belgium and Spain in the European Junior Nations
Championships later this summer.

“It was the same as the other games, our side lacked the
experience at this level.  But they were a good information
gathering weekends for the new coach in the first steps towards the
Europeans,” said Graham Stuart, Scotland`s manager.
