More opportunities to #BackTheBlueSticks

Scotland Men Seniors

The fundraising campaign for the Scotland men’s hockey squad, to support their exceptional success in qualifying for the World League Semi-Finals in London, is well underway and there are now two new ways to get involved.

In association with Scottish Hockey, Summer Slam Hockey is helping raise funds for the Scotland men’s hockey team by holding a fantastic one-day hockey event.

Summer Slam Hockey will be running a 6-a-side tournament for mixed U14s and mixed U16s on Saturday 13 May at The Mary Erskine School in Edinburgh, and all proceeds are going to the fundraising campaign for Scotland’s men’s national team.

So if you’re a club team, school team from Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and everywhere in between, or you’d like to enter with your friends you can sign up HERE on the Summer Slam Hockey website.

There’s another excellent event the following day supporting the #BackTheBlueSticks fundraising campaign.

In partnership with Inverleith Hockey Club, the Scotland senior men’s hockey team is offering the chance to learn from senior international players at two coaching clinics.

They are running a coaching clinic and a goalkeeping clinic on Sunday 14 May from 14:00 – 16:00 at Edinburgh Academy. A minimum donation of £15 per player is required on the day with all proceeds going towards funding the senior men’s World League Semi-Final preparations. A family discount is also on offer where the fee for the youngest child attending is just £10.

The coaching clinic is available to all kids aged 8-17 years old, and the goalkeeper clinic is open to kids aged 10-17 years old, and with limited spaces available places will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Contact [email protected] for places.Scotland men v czechs

The crowdfunding campaign is ongoing until 31 May, and donations can be made HERE. There are also great rewards available on the crowdfunding page including signed shirts, photos and hockey sticks, as well as player mascot spaces for the Men’s EuroHockey Championship II tournament in Glasgow this August.

Scotland’s senior men’s hockey squad exceeded all expectations and qualified for the World League Semi-Finals in London this June. The Blue Sticks began this incredible journey ranked 28 in the world and have now climbed to 23rd in the rankings – they have earned the chance to reach the Hockey World Cup.

The Blue Sticks qualified from World League 1 in Glasgow last year to compete against a challenging, and well-funded, field at World League 2 in Belfast. Against all the odds, the team progressed to the World League semi-finals with some exceptional performances.

The Scotland squad now needs your help to fund this next step of the journey.

In London Scotland will face the likes of England, the Netherlands, India, Pakistan, Korea, Canada, China, Malaysia, and Argentina. The squad, young and full of potential, requires financial support in order to go toe-to-toe with some of the best hockey teams in the world.

Thank you for your support.
