Merlins Gordonians aiming for top spot
Aberdeen Asset Management Women’s National League
Division 2
AAM Merlins Gordonians have the opportunity to create a two point gap at the top of Division 2 if they can overcome fourth place Erskine Stewart’s Melville in Edinburgh this weekend. The Aberdonians recorded a narrow 1-0 win against the capital outfit earlier in the season so expect a tight contest.
Inverleith can keep within distance of the top two provided they take three points away to Glasgow University. Following a 5-1 win against the students last time out, they will be confident of another victory to keep them in the fight for a play-off place.
At the foot of the table, University of Dundee have the opportunity to close the points gap against Granite City Wanderers when they host them on Saturday, while Haddington Ladies will be aiming for some much needed points away to Borders Fjordhus Rievers.
Division 3
With University of St.Andrew’s streaking away at the top of Division 3, it’s very much a fight for second place between those sides in the top half of the table. Second place Waverley Inveresk Trinity take on third place Stirling University at home; expect a close encounter as the two sides could not be separated earlier in the season following a 1-1 draw.
It’s a basement battle at the foot of the division as Bon Accord MBC host University of Strathclyde, while there is a Granite City derby between Aberdeen Ladies and ADTI Aberdeen University.
Championship League
In Division 1, Milne Craig Clydesdale Western II host Grove Menzieshill A and will be looking to continue their 100% win record this season.
It’s an all Edinburgh clash as CALA Edinburgh II welcome Edinburgh University II, while Milne Craig Clydesdale Western III travel across Glasgow to take on local rivals Glasgow Accies.
In Division 2, Edinburgh University III host Glynhill Kelburne, and Watsonians take on Grange EL A.
