Men’s SDP Take Valuable Lessons from England Series Ahead of European Championships

Scotland’s Men’s Scottish Development Programme (SDP) welcomed England last week for a challenging two-match series, delivering two highly competitive contests that highlighted the squad’s resilience, determination and growing potential.

Despite strong performances across both fixtures, Scotland were unable to secure a result, falling to 5-2 and 6-2 defeats against the England side.

While the scorelines suggest a comfortable outcome for the visitors, the matches were much closer than they appeared on paper. Across both games, Scotland competed strongly for extended periods, with only one quarter in each fixture falling below the standards the group has consistently set. England capitalised on those moments, and ultimately those brief lapses proved decisive.

The series provided an important opportunity for the squad to test themselves against top-level opposition and continue their development in a high-performance environment. Throughout both matches, the players demonstrated excellent character, worked tirelessly for one another, and showed a willingness to compete.

There were plenty of positives to take from the week, with the squad gaining valuable experience that will prove crucial as preparations continue for the European Championships in July.
