Learning experience for young Scots in Ulster
Scotland U16 Girls Development squad were in action this weekend against Ulster in Jordanstown, where the Scots lost 3-0 in the first two matches on Friday and Saturday, before holding their hosts to a 0-0 draw earlier today.
Head Coach Bill Robson said, “The three matches against Ulster presented a good experience for the girls, particularly as they were playing against a team including players who were on average a year older.
“In the first two games, the players took time to get to grips with the pace and tempo of Ulster, and we made a few mistakes that ultimately cost us goals. However, the third match was much more encouraging and the stats showed that we had far more possession and territory than in the first two games.
“This trip was not about results; these players will have another year at this age group and the experience this weekend will stand them in good stead for their development.
“We go to Holland next weekend with our full strength squad, where we will play Dutch and German clubs, as well as Ulster again. I’m confident we’ll give Ulster more of a challenge next week.”
