Kinross stage youth hockey tournament for Tayside & Fife clubs

Kinross Hockey Club were the hosts of another successful staging of a youth hockey tournament involving clubs in the Tayside & Fife region last Sunday.
The competition was lively, with teams including Dunfermline Carnegie, Perthshire, Blairgowrie, Junior Hockey Academy and hosts Kinross Kobras displaying some excellent hockey throughout the day.
At U10 level, Junior Hockey Academy I were the eventual winners, beating Dunfermline Carnegie I, to win the section. Carnegie coach Keith Forster noted that ‘the standard of play at this age group had steadily increased year on year’.
Blairgowrie and Junior Hockey Academy I played out the final of the U12 section that ended in a 0 – 0 draw, and with no time for penalties, honours were shared.
Some great play witnessed at U14 level saw a final between Dunfermline Carnegie I and Kinross Kobras II; this was a closely fought game won in the end by Dunfermline Carnegie.
Kinross Hockey Club would like to thank all competitors for the great spirit in which the games were played, the youth umpires who all gained good experience and re-emphasised their commitment to hosting more of these junior tournaments to give those involved in junior club hockey as much valuable match experience as possible.
