Kelburne surge ahead

Glynhill Kelburne retained pole position in the Subway
national league in style with a 12-2 victory over Greaves
Clydesdale at Bellahouston.

The champions had the game well won at half time with a
comfortable 4-1 lead with two goals each from Michael Christie and
Mark Ralph from set pieces.  The avalanche continued unabated
after the interval, Michael Christie completed his hat-trick,
brother Jonny also scored three and the other goals came from
Willie Marshall, Alan Forsyth, Ross McIntyre and teenager Lee
Morton.  The Clydesdale cause was not helped when goalkeeper
Stuart Brown was forced to leave the field with concussion and the
Titwood outfit finished the game with 11 outfield players and no
keeper.

Grange continued their unbeaten run with a comfortable 4-0 win
over Western Wildcats at Peffermill.   Phil Sully opened
the scoring with a deflection from a hard cross by Cammie Fraser
and just on the interval captain Rob Barr doubled the score at a
penalty corner, he beat popped the ball over the stick of
runner-out Ian Moodie and fired a half volley past the Wildcats`
keeper.

In the second half Matt Connor made it three with a tap in after
Guy Murdoch had opened up the Wildcats defence.   Then
Murdoch himself completed the scoring for Grange, he picked up the
ball in the Western half and raced into the scoring circle to fire
home a shot at the near post.

Edinburgh University progressed up the table with a comfortable
3-0 win over AMN Hillhead, Jay Harmond got two while Callum Duke
got the other.

CALA Edinburgh continue to pick up valuable points with a 3-3
draw with Grove Menzieshill at Meggetland.  Following a half
hour delay due to motorway problems leading to Edinburgh,
Menzieshill started the match with only eight players and David
Patterson took advantage to give CALA the lead from a penalty
corner.   With the Taysiders back to full strength Craig
Falconer equalised, also from a set piece.  Later on in the
second half there was a mad ten minutes with four goals, Olly James
put Menzieshill 2-1 up from the spot, Karl Clarke equalised for
CALA, Falconer again put his side 3-2 ahead, only for Ramsay Bell
to bring the scores level from open play.

Inverleith`s clash with VWS Dundee Wanderers fell victim to the
motorway delays.

In the women`s league Milne Craig Western youngsters finally
came of age with a 3-2 win over title hopefuls VWS Dundee Wanderers
in the game of the day.  After 10 minutes the Taysiders failed
to clear their lines, the ball fell to Morag McLellan who rode a
couple of tackles and places the ball wide of the keeper.
Western were two up in 23 minutes, a cross from Holly Cram found
Nicola Pitticas in space and she calmly pushed the ball home.

The contest looked well and truly over when Wanderers` defence
gifted the ball to McLellan, unselfishly she crossed it to Nicki
Scrastin who had the simple task of slapping the ball home.
To their credit the Dundonians fought back, with ten minutes
remaining the Western defence failed to clear the danger at a
penalty corner and Mandy Crawford scored with a low shot.  The
game became tense when a Louise Sheriff`s pass allowed Heather
Elder to make it 3-2 with a few minutes left, but Western held
their nerve to take the three points.

League leaders Grove Menzieshill consolidated their position at
the top with a 5-0 win at GHK.   The Taysiders were three
up at the interval, Louise Carroll opened with two from the spot
while Kerry Hall got the other.  In the second half Carroll
completed her hat-trick and Linda Clement scored the fifth.

Giffnock are now on the same points as Dundee Wanderers after a
narrow 1-0 win over Grange, Susie Blake pushed the ball over the
line for the winner.

CALA Edinburgh moved off the bottom of the table with a 2-0 win
over Western Wildcats, Amy Brodie scored both.  Kelburne went
back on the winning trail with a single goal victory over Edinburgh
University.
