Inverleith have promotion pool opportunity in their grasp
Stephen Dick and Derek Salmond were in amongst the goals as Inverleith Hockey Club beat HC Valenciennes 5-2 and lost out 4-2 to WKS Grunwald Poznan in the EuroHockey Indoor Club Trophy.
They currently sit second in Pool B and a win against SC Stroitel Brest tomorrow morning will seal a promotional pool spot.
Two first half goals Stephen Dick ensured his side were level at 2-2 come half-time against WKS Grunwald Poznan, the goals for the Polish side coming from Tomasz Dutkiewicz.
Michael Polaszewski made it 3-2 in the 27th minute before Dutkiewicw completed his hat-trick right on full-time.
Nevertheless, Stuart Neave’s side hit back to beat HC Valenciennes in their second match this afternoon.
Sullivan El Ghezzi opened the scoring for the French side before Dick levelled in the 17th minute. However, Maxime Danghin put his side in front a minute later for a 2-1 advantage at half-time.
Two second half goals from Derek Salmond, another from Dick and Andrew Malcolm ensured a vital victory for the Purple Robes though, with Ghezzi’s second goal not proving insurmountable for the capital outfit.
