International sides battle at Grove Menzieshill Invitational Tournament
Grove Menzieshill Hockey Club are holding their annual Grove Menzieshill Invitational Indoor Tournament on the 27th – 30th December at Dundee International Sports Complex (DISC). This years’ event offers a full programme of youth’s, men’s and women’s hockey. This event will feature a host of international players, is a great opportunity to watch a feast of festive hockey for all ages.
The Youth tournaments will run on Friday the 27th and Monday 30th December 2013. The senior men’s and women’s games will run over the 28th and 29th of December 2013. With the men’s and women’s finals taking place at 5pm on Sunday the 29th December.
For the third successive year Angus based company Intervention Rentals Ltd have kindly sponsored The Grove Menzieshill Invitational Indoor Tournament, ensuring that the tournament is a great success like its previous years. Directors David Laing and Colin Kennedy state;

In the men’s event will be in a round robin format and will see national sides from America, Scotland and Wales do battle amongst National League side Inverleith and hosts Grove Menzieshill for the festive title. The ladies will have a similar format where the event hosts Grove Menzieshill will renew their longstanding local rivalry with VWS Dundee Wanderers, as well as competition from the Scotland Under 21’s side, and tournament debutants Hillhead. This event, which is also being supported by Scottish Hockey, Sport Dundee and Dundee City Council, promises to be action packed and will provide an opportunity for the younger generation of hockey players to compete alongside international athletes.
Monday’s Youth Tournament will also showcase some of the best youth hockey players in the area. Under 12, 14 and 16 teams from a range of places Dundee, Angus, Fife and Perthshire will be competing in their very own mini tournaments.
Refreshments will be available all day, and spectators are invited to attend DISC free of charge on all days. We will also be welcoming our guests to the Tournament Ceilidh at Forthill Sports Club on the evening of Saturday 28 December. The ceilidh is open to all and tickets will be available at the tournament.
