Grove Menzieshill & Milne Craig Clydesdale Western in Europe
Grove Menzieshill and Milne Craig Clydesdale Western are Scotland’s European representatives in continental club competition this weekend, with both sides looking to target promotion from their respective competitions.
Grove Menzieshill will compete in the EuroHockey Club Champions Challenge I in Catania, Italy, while Milne Craig Clydesdale Western will participate in the EuroHockey Club Champions Challenge II in Prague, Czech Republic. Both competitions run from 17-20 May.
Following the excellent defence of their Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 1 title this season, Charlotte Jones’ side will travel to Italy with confidence and in good form.
(Grove Menzieshill will be aiming to translate their league form to Europe in search of promotion from the Challenge I competition)
They will compete in Pool B of the competition against hosts HC Universitario Catania A.S.D (ITA), Royal Wellington THC (BEL) and UCD LHC (IRL). Pool A comprises Stade Français (FRA), HF Lorenzioni (ITA), Gintra Strekte Uni HC (LTU), and Metrostoy (RUS).
Meanwhile, Neil Menzies’ Milne Craig Clydesdale Western will also travel to Europe in good form following a strong end to the Division 1 season in which they finished runners-up.
A healthy Scotland contingent, including senior internationalists Amy Gibson, Morag McLellan, Nicola Skrastin, Cat Ralph, Holly Cram and Susan McGilveray will hopefully boost their chances of promotion from the competition.
(Milne Craig Clydesdale Western’s Cat Ralph will be hoping to inspire her side to European success)
The Glasgow outfit will compete in Pool A against HC Maxx Stahl Wels (AUT), SK Slavia Praha (CZE), and SV Arminen (AUT). Cambrai HC (FRA), HC 1946 Praga (CZE), Swansea City HC (WAL and HC Rotweiss Wettingen (SUI) make up Pool B.
