Governance Update – General Meeting
Scottish Hockey today announced its intention to convene a General Meeting on Sunday 24 February 2013.
Since the 2012 AGM, and further to previous notices and reports available on the Scottish Hockey website, the Governance Review Short Life Working Group (SLWG) and Scottish Hockey Board have been working through a transparent review process, in consultation with members
This process aimed to ensure that the Scottish Hockey Board structure and function was thoroughly reviewed, in order that going forward, it is appropriate to govern the sport in Scotland, meeting members’ needs.
Following the review, the proposed changes to the Board’s structure and related methods of operation, including how directors are nominated, as well as some changes to roles of Board Members, will require some amendments to the current Articles of Association by suitably qualified legal personnel, reporting to the Board.
These changes in turn require formal approval at a General Meeting in advance of a new elections process. The General Meeting will take place on Sunday 24 February at MacDiarmid Park, Perth.
There is comprehensive information available in the following documents:
- Please download the Governance Briefing Note (Dec ’12) from Robert Heatly, Chief Executive, Scottish Hockey
- Please download the Notes of the Governance Review Short Life Working Group (Oct ’12)
- Please download the draft Articles of Association (Dec ’12)
Representatives of the Board and Short Life Working Group will make themselves available for two briefing meetings in January should members wish an additional forum to discuss the newly drafted articles. Dates and venues will be announced shortly.
