Good Luck To Great Britain
London 2012 will officially get underway at tonight’s
opening ceremony, and it won’t be much of a wait for our Olympic
hockey stars to be involved in the action as the hockey competition
begins on Sunday 29 July.
Scotland’s Laura Bartlett and Emily Maguire will feature in the
GB women’s squad, with Abi Walker nominated as travelling reserve.
Their commitment and dedication to high performance in both
training and matches over the last four years will see them
rewarded with every athlete’s dream; to participate and compete at
an Olympic Games.
Looking forward to London 2012 and the forthcoming hockey
competition, Robert Heatly, CEO, said:
“Scottish Hockey would like to extend its best wishes and
support to all the Great Britain players, coaches, managers and
non-playing staff who will be involved in the Olympic Games.
“In particular, we will be cheering on our Scottish players
Laura Bartlett, Emily Maguire and travelling reserve Abi Walker in
what we hope will be a highly successful campaign that results in a
medal for the squads.
“I’m sure I echo the large number of Scottish supporters when I
say we are 100% behind the Great Britain teams.”
You can follow all the live action from the hockey competition
via the BBC; TV, radio, online.
