SCOTLAND 1 IRELAND 2 – UNDER 18 GIRLS
CHALLENGE MATCH IN LISBURN
Scotland`s youngsters lost the three match series against
Ireland after losing the final match 2-1 in Lisburn.
The Scots went ahead midway through the first half with a penalty
corner strike by Sarah Jamieson (Inverleith & Currie High
School) and that remained the score at the interval.
Ireland equalised with a penalty corner in the second half and
secured the winner in open play with just eight minutes
left. CALA Edinburgh`s Amber McNeill had chances to
level the scores but was denied by some fantastic saves from the
Irish goalkeeper.
SCOTLAND UNDER 16 GIRLS 3 ULSTER UNDER 18
GIRLS 1 – LISBURN
Scotland`s under 16 girls won the final match of their Irish
tour with a 3-1 win over Ulster`s under 18s. The Scottish
scorers were Eilidh Thomson (Inverleith & George Watson`s),
Fiona Buirnett (Milne Craig Western & St Aloysius) from a
penalty corner and Jessica Ross (VWS Dundee Wanderers &
Morgan). The Scots youngsters had further chances to
add to their score, CALA Edinburgh`s Millie Brown struck the post
no fewer than three times and Thomson missed from two yards when it
seemed easier to score.
