Scotland U21 men beaten in Loughborough
A close encounter in Loughborough saw England U21 men win 3-1 over Scotland in the first of three test matches.
England started off on the front foot but it was Scotland who broke the deadlock. Euan Burgess played a lovely pass into the D for Keir Robb who picked out Ben Galloway, and Galloway made no mistake to find the net for his first Scotland U21s goal. 1-0.
Before the quarter finished England equalised with a penalty corner finish to earn good reward for their work in a quarter they dominated.
The second and third quarters were very even with both sides fashioning good chances for goals.
Struan Walker was denied twice by excellent saves. The first was a great forehand strike that found the keeper sprightly, and Walker’s later backhand effort was again matched by the England goalkeeper.
England forced a penalty stroke and converted to make it 2-1, before some clinical finishing saw the home side pull into a 3-1 lead.
The end of the game was end-to-end but produced no further goals and England ran out winners in a game that was a tremendous learning experience for the Scots.
