Dundee rivals go head-to-head in Men’s Arthur McKay Scottish Cup
The quarter-finals of the Men’s Arthur McKay Scottish Cup commence this weekend, which will see the last eight compete for a place in the semi-finals.
Inverleith are already through to the last four of the competition following a superb 4-2 victory over Grange in last night’s Edinburgh derby. They will face the winners of the Tayside derby between Dundee Wanderers and Grove Menzieshill.
Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 2 title favourites Dundee Wanderers will be hoping to show they have what it takes to compete against Division 1 opposition when they take on local rivals Grove Menzieshill.
When asked about their opponents and chances of getting to the semi-finals, Grove Menzieshill Head Coach Chris Anderson said, “They [Dundee Wanderers] have dominated their league and should be confident going into the game, we will give them due respect.
We have also had a good season and can draw on these experiences to help us on Saturday. As it is a cup game there is no room for error and no second chances. The squad are confident and we believe we can win the game. We certainly have the quality and depth in the squad to do so.”
Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 1 teams AAM Gordonians and Western Wildcats will also battle it out for a semi-final berth. Both teams are yet to play each other outdoors this season, which could call for an unpredictable and exciting spectacle.
In the other side of the draw, Watsonians are up against a touch challenge when they play defending champions Glynhill Hotel Kelburne.
