Deadline for Club Head Coach applications extended

Scottish Hockey, in partnership with Aberdeen Asset
Management, is delighted to announce that the governing body is now
recruiting for three full-time Head Coaches to work within the
Professional Coaching Programme.
Aberdeen Asset Management has invested valuable
funds in this forward-thinking programme and following a successful
application process, three clubs have been selected by Scottish
Hockey to employ the expertise of a Head Coach to work with the
club on a full-time basis. These are Clydesdale Hockey Club (Men),
Granite City Wanderers (Women) and Grove Menzieshill (Men).
Callum McLeod, Scottish Hockey Performance Manager,
said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to be directly employed as
part of a pioneering and innovative programme within hockey in
Scotland. We’re seeking qualified individuals who can demonstrate
the ability to take the lead in the development and implementation
of high performance programmes for players at each club.
“The ultimate aim of the programme is to increase
the quality of players in our National League competitions and
raise the standard of hockey within Scotland. Hopefully our
competitions will become stronger and more attractive for people to
come and spectate.”
The recruitment and selection process will include
the submission of applications to Scottish Hockey, compilation of a
shortlist of candidates and subsequent interviews to assess each
candidate’s suitability for the Head Coach position.
“We hope to have the successful applicants in place
in November so that the individuals can start working with the
clubs to implement their ideas and programmes”, said McLeod.
Martin Gilbert, CEO of Aberdeen Asset Management,
said: “This is the first major step in our joint endeavour with
Scottish Hockey to develop hockey talent at grassroots level in
Scotland and we are delighted that our support is having such a
positive impact.
