Clydedale stun Inverleith

Greaves Clydesdale produced the result of the day taking the
scalp of Inverleith by a convincing three goal margin at Titwood
today in the Subway National League.  The Titwood team put
aside this season’s inconsistency with a performance which greatly
pleased coach Gordon Shepherd who paid special mention to an
outstanding performance from young Gordon Amour.

Captain Ross McPherson gave the home team the lead following a
training ground rehearsed short corner routine. The second came
from Ben Peterson following good lead up work from Gordon Munro and
Peterson scored the killer third with a neat deflection.

Western Wildcats continued their fine run of form with a 6-3 win
over CALA Edinburgh at a wet and windy Bellahoustoun. The Wildcats
were ahead in the opening minutes courtesy of a Scott McCartney
vicious drag flick which sailed high into the top left corner.

Vishal Marwaha’s side continued to dominate proceedings in very
difficult conditions and McCartney completed a first half hat
-trick with a further field goal and an expertly taken penalty
stroke.

The second half saw McCartney add a fourth with further goals
coming for the home side from Douglas Simpson and Andrew Seunauth.
CALA replied through Scott Sutherland (2) and Carl Clarke.

Edinburgh University confirmed a place in the top half of the
league going into the winter shut down with a five goal win against
struggling VWS Dundee Wanderers on Saturday afternoon with
player/coach Graham Moodie the driving force.

Glynhill Hotel Kelburne continued their march towards the title
with a 7-1 victory over AMN Hillhead at Bellahouston even without
regulars Jonny Christie (illness) and Chris Nelson (family
commitment.)

Within thirty seconds Kelburne were ahead, in atrocious weather
conditions. when neat interplay between Alan Forsyth and Michael
Christie allowed Lee Morton to open the scoring. Hillhead managed
to regain some composure after the early setback but two further
goals before the break left them reeling. The first coming from a
Willie Marshall set piece and in the final seconds Ross McIntyre
netted from open play.

The second period continued in a similar fashion with further
goals from Mark Ralph (drag flick), Gareth Hall (2) and a second
for Marshall sealing the emphatic win. Hillhead’s consolation
coming from Craig Paterson.

Grove Menzieshill’s game with Grange was cancelled due to the
work to work having now begun to lay the new pitch at DISC.
