Callum McLeod completes cycle across the Pyrenees to support youth internationals
Callum McLeod, Performance Manager completed his cycle across
the Pyrenees to raise funds for the Scotland youth internationals
programmes. A slight change of plan added about 70 miles on
to the route as he and friend Robbie Wilson started the cycle from
Bordeaux down to the Pyrenees and finished in Gerona, after
covering 520 miles and climbing over 13000 metres.
The first full day was particularly strenuous as the
temperature was 40 degrees and they covered 120 miles, and that was
before a mountain was climbed.
Callum commented that “the first full day of cycling was
extremely difficult and at times we both felt extremely tired,
however once we began to climb the mountains through France and
into Spain the temperatures were very pleasant with little wind
which made for ideal conditions. Physically and mentally it
was very challenging and the fact that many people had sponsored me
to do this for the youth players kept me going through the six
days.”
