BRAVE Cup day 3 sees Lightning and Devils go head-to-head

Lightning 5-0 (1-3) Devils (Emerging Girls)

Lightning clocked up a superb 5-0 victory against Devils on day three of Emerging Girls’ BRAVE Cup 2025. The bonus point went to Devils with a 3-1 win in the shootout.

A sun blessed Peffermill saw the home side get off to a fast start. Lightning took the lead early doors when Eleri Jones slipped home from close range. 1-0.

Devils started the second quarter strongly but it was Lightning who found the net. A nice move down the left saw the ball played inside for Emily Widdowson to pop the ball home for 2-0.

Lightning continued to pressurise the Devils after half time and they went three ahead. Excellent pressure by Emily Lang gave her the opportunity to crash the ball into the bottom left corner for 3-0.

The third goal for Lightning was quickly followed by a fourth when Georgie Gordon finished from a rebound of the goalkeeper for 4-0.

The goals kept coming for Lightning in the final quarter when Sophie Matthews struck to make it 5-0. Devils were successful in the shootout with a 3-1 win to take the bonus point.

Lightning 0-3 (4-2) Devils (Emerging Boys)

Devils booked their place in the Emerging Boys’ BRAVE Cup 2025 final with a 3-0 win over Lightning at Peffermill. A 4-2 victory for Lightning in the shootout saw them take the bonus point.

A quiet start to the contest saw both sides restricted to passing around the circles as defenders held their positions well.

The deadlock was finally broken in the second quarter courtesy of a stroke for Devils. Gillies Law stepped up to find the top left corner from the penalty spot and make it 1-0.

Devils went 2-0 ahead as the quarter neared its conclusion with a clinical finish into the bottom left corner by Ollie Holden.

The goals kept coming for Devils in the second half. From the second phase of a penalty corner Murray Cameron squeezed the ball over the line for 3-0 early in the half.

Lightning made a late surge in the final quarter but Devils were strong and worth their win. It was a 4-2 victory for Lightning in the shootout to take the bonus point.

Lightning 3-2 (3-4) Devils (Aspiring Boys)

Lightning held off a late comeback to beat Devils 3-2 in the Aspiring Boys’ BRAVE Cup. A close shootout went to Devils with a 4-3 win for the bonus point.

An action-packed start to the game saw both sides attack and test each other’s’ defences. The opening goal eventually came and it was Lightning who struck. Harrison Murphy received the ball on the left and crashed it into the bottom left corner for 1-0.

Lightning doubled their advantage in the second quarter when the influential Angus Fletcher squeezed the ball home from the right of goal to make it 2-0.

The second half got underway with a Lightning goal as they pulled away from the Devils towards a place in the final. 3-0.

Devils sparked ideas of a fightback when they found the net early in the final quarter. A slick passing move carved Lightning open and Thomas McInroy swept the ball home for 3-1.

Theo Wood then struck for Devils with an effort through the goalkeeper from a tight angle to pull it back to 3-2.

Devils threw everything at Lightning in the hunt for an equaliser but couldn’t find the net and it ended 3-2. Devils did claim the bonus point with a 4-3 victory in the shootout.

Lightning 6-1 Devils (Aspiring Girls)

A sensational 6-1 victory saw Lightning defeat Devils at Peffermill, and will play in tomorrow’s final in Glasgow.

The match got off to a blistering start when Mia Fulton popped up for Devils to slot home a far post finish in the first minute of the match.

Only a few minutes later the game was all square. Izzy Molyneux’s penalty corner strike for Lightning found the net to make it 1-1.

Lightning took the lead with a minute to play in the first quarter when a lovely sweeping move was finished off at the far post by Izzy Hogarth for 2-1.

A third goal for Lightning arrived in the second quarter when a pass was fizzed into the circle and deflected off a Devils stick into the net. 3-1.

Lightning began to pull away in the second half when they found the net shooting through a crowded circle for 4-1.

Molyneux struck her second of the match with a fierce low strike through the goalkeeper’s legs to make it 5-1.

A sixth goal for Lightning in the final quarter from Sophie Davidson kept them powering towards the final. 6-1.
