BRAVE Cup 2026 day 3 sets the scene for finals day!

Emerging Girls – Lightning 2-2 Devils 

An exciting emerging Girls clash at Peffermill saw Lightning and Devils draw 2-2. The bonus point in the shootout went to Devils.

In the sun of Peffermill Lightning got off to a good start. The opening goal of the game came when Anna Anstead zipped a low penalty corner into the bottom left corner for 1-0.

The second quarter saw Devils pose a threat down the left but the Lighting defence was able to snuff out the danger.

Lightning piled on the pressure after half time in search of a second goal, but the Devils counter was such a danger.

It was on a Devils counter that the found an equaliser. Sophie Barrie won the ball and burst into circle before slotting the ball into the bottom right corner. 1-1

Devils then pounced to go 2-1 ahead after great opportunism from Ciara Pratt to find the net.

A Lighting equaliser came in the final quarter. A low hard penalty corner strike by Zoe Armstrong found the backboard for 2-2.

There would be no further goals and the game finished even at 2-2.

 

Emerging Boys Lightning 3-1 Devils 

Lightning claimed victory over Devils with a 3-1 win in the Emerging Boys BRAVE Cup. The bonus point in the shootout went to Lightning.

Lightning enjoyed the better possession but Devils created the better chances in the opening quarter.

With two minutes of the quarter remaining Lightning made their possession count when a swift counter was finished off by Lucas Martin for 1-0.

It was the turn of the Devils to dominate possession in the second quarter but it was Lightning who struck next. A drag flick from Charlie Windsor-MacKenzie found the top left corner for 2-0.

The Devils pressure paid off when Robert Buckland scooped the ball home to pull things back to 2-1.

After half time Lightning struck again and a drag flick into the bottom left corner by Issac Smith made it 3-1. They went hunting for more goals to put daylight between the teams but Devils held out until the end of the quarter.

The final quarter started slow as the game felt like it might peter out. A late push by Devils was well managed by Lightning to claim the win.

 

Aspiring Boys- Lightning 2-2 Devils 

A hard fought 2-2 draw saw Lightning and Devils Aspiring Boys end on level terms. Lighting took the bonus point in the shootout.

The game got off to a ferocious start with Devils taking the lead and Lightning striking straight back. 1-1.

Devils piled on the pressure in the second quarter but with 40 seconds left on the clock it was Lightning who scored. A lovely spin and shot by Ceiba Colquhoun found the bottom left corner for 2-1.

In an instant it was 2-2 when Calum Duffy squeezed it home from a penalty corner rebound.

Devils piled into the Lightning circle looking to take the lead in the third quarter but the team from the east was strong and withstood the pressure.

In the final quarter Devils continued to look the more likely to find a winner until a late surge by Lightning, but there would be no further goals and it ended 2-2.

 

Aspiring Girls- Lightning 0-0 Devils 

A 0-0 draw between Lightning and Devils in the Aspiring Girls BRAVE Cup ended the day at Peffermill.

Lightning edged the opening skirmishes of the Match without creating anything clear cut. Devils earned a penalty corner but their effort looped over the bar.

The second quarter saw Lightning fizz a penalty corner effort just past the right post. As the half continued both sides struggled to take control of the match.

In the second half Lightning put together a couple of corner routines but found the Devils defence resolute. The longer the game went on the more it seemed Lightning would score, but they couldn’t find a goal in the third quarter.

The final quarter saw Lightning have the chance to take the lead from the penalty spot but the post has other ideas and the game remained goalless.

One last penalty corner opportunity for Devils prompted a Lightning counter attack but the danger was swept up and the game ended in stalemate.

 

Parking

Due to the number of events happening in the Glasgow Green area on Sunday, we advise all spectators visiting the Glasgow National Hockey Centre for the BRAVE Cup Finals to use public transport where possible.

There will be no access for players or spectators within the hockey or football car parks, except those with blue badges.

Parking will be extremely limited in the area, and authorities have advised that illegal parking may result in enforcement action.
