Brave Cup 2023 – are you Brave enough?
Scottish Hockey’s new BRAVE Cup competition, featuring the best young players in Scotland, is taking place on the 10th – 13th of August.
The tournament will feature three teams: Northern Devils; Western Thunder; and Eastern Lightning, and will be played at the girls’ and boys’ aspiring and emerging pathway stage groups.
The tournament is a player development opportunity, and has been designed to bridge the gap between club and international hockey, with Scotland’s best young players staking a claim for a place in the Scotland setup for the next cycle.
Thursday 10 August sees the action get underway at Glenalmond College with Northern Devils playing Western Thunder, then on Friday 11 August the tournament continues at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre with Western Thunder facing Eastern Lightning.
Saturday 12 August has Eastern Lightning and Northern Devils go head-to-head at Peffermill before finals day at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre on Sunday 13 August.
216 players will play in the tournament and there are 24 coaches taking part.
Entry is free until finals day, with tickets priced as £5 for an exciting and entertaining finals day.
There will also be a conference on 9 August at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre, aimed at coaches and officials. Further details will be announced soon.
Brave Lead, Kelly Fillingham, said, “The Brave Cup is a great opportunity for national team coaches to see the exciting talent across the country. It’s also a fantastic opportunity for young players to compete in a best-v-best environment, with all the added elements of tournament hockey.
“I’m also excited to engage with coaches in schools and clubs to bring people into Brave, and work together to develop tomorrow’s internationalists.”
