Arthur McKay Scottish Cup takes centre stage.
The pick of the games in the Men’s Arthur McKay Scottish Cup is
the local clash between AMN Hillhead and Greaves Clydesdale at
Jordanhill School on Sunday.
Both teams have failed so far to rediscover the form and
consistency of last term which subsequently sees them lying in the
bottom half of the table.
However Clydesdale’s Gordon Shepherd is confident that his side
are turning the corner and said “We always have tough games against
Hillhead and this will be made even harder by having to play away
from home.”
Grange will need to be on their guard against a Watsonians side
challenging at the top of the second division. Captain Rob Barr
said ” I expect a strong professional performance from the whole
squad after last year’s early cup exit.”
Harris Academy FP will travel with a degree of trepidation to
face a rampant Glynhill Hotel Kelburne at Bellahouston. The other
ties scheduled are Dundee University v Perthshire and Inverleith v
McWhinney Uddingston.
The Women’s Cup throws up one all first division clash between
Grange EL and CALA Edinburgh at Peffermill with both teams
presently in the bottom half of the table.
There is also a possible “banana skin” for Glynhill Hotel
Kelburne as the travel to Tipperlinn to face second division
Watsonians who presently sit in third place. Last year the Paisley
side were dumped out of the Cup by Inverleith.
Edinburgh University will face Giffnock second string taking the
final place in the last sixteen with a penalty shoot out (4-3) win
over second division Glasgow Accies. The game finished one apiece
in normal time with Susie Ross on the mark for
Giffnock.
Strong favourites to reach the quarter finals from the other
games will be the first division sides Western Wildcats,
Grove Menzieshill, Milne Craig Western and VWS Dundee Wanderers
facing George Heriots, Granite City Wanderers, Highland and
Stirling Wanderers respectively.
