Arthur McKay Scottish Cup & Plate finals rescheduled
Scottish Hockey today confirmed that the Arthur McKay Scottish Cup and Plate finals due to be held on 11 May will be rescheduled to be played on 25 May 2013.
The decision to reschedule the event was taken by the Management Committee on 15 January 2013 for the following reasons:
- FIH World League Round 2 (men) takes place from 6-12 May 2013 and as result, senior international players would not be available
- The event cannot be brought forward due to scheduled international matches and other domestic events
- The event cannot be played on 18 May 2013 due to the women’s EuroHockey Club Championship.
It is planned to schedule ‘round-robin’ President’s and Peregrine’s Cup matches during the period between the conclusion of the Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 1 programme and the rescheduled date for the Arthur McKay Scottish Cup and Plate finals. The Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 2 and Division 3 programmes are scheduled to end three weeks prior to the finals.
Robert Heatly, Chief Executive, said, “The Arthur McKay Scottish Cup and Plate Finals is a key event in the hockey calendar. For the benefit of both the teams and spectators, it is important that the competing teams are at full strength and the best players are available to play in this flagship competition. We have therefore rescheduled the date for the event, which provides a fitting conclusion to the domestic season.”
