Arthur McKay Men’s Scottish Cup Preview, Last 32
We preview the Men’s Arthur McKay Scottish Cup as the teams battle it out for a place in the last 16.
2020 Renewables Greenock have arguably one of the hardest draws as they face Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 1 leaders Grange. Grove Menzieshill, the only team to have beaten Grange in the league this season, will face Hillhead, while Glynhill Hotel Kelburne who take on Division 2 outfit Alpha Data Carnegie.
Division 1 strugglers AAM Gordonians will look to gain some respite from the league by knocking out St Andrews University. Division 2 contenders Glasgow University will face lower league opposition in the form of Giffnock. The draw also brings out an exciting Dundee derby, with Dundee Wanderers taking on local competition in the form of Dundee University.
Meanwhile, Division 3 teams will be hoping to stamp their mark on the tournament and prove they have what it takes to compete with the best. Promotion candidates Harris Academy FP take on PSL Team Sport Clydesdale, while Ayr will try to beat all odds and sink Falkirk GHG. Mid-table rivals Waverley Inveresk Trinity and Stirling Wanderers will battle for a place in the last 16. Erskine Stewarts Melville FP will also be hoping to knock out Division 3 opponents Perthshire.
McWhinney Uddingston and Aberdeen GSFP, placed fourth and fifth respectively in Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 2, will prove to be a competitive game. CALA Edinburgh have the long jaunt north to Highland and Granite City Wanderers head south to play Watsonians. FMGM Monarchs will have a tough time against top flight Western Wildcats in Glasgow.
