A single goal separates the Tayside protagonists Grove
Menzieshill and VWS Dundee Wanderers as the Subway indoor national
league reaches its end game this weekend.  

MC Clydesdale`s shock defeat of Wanderers last week has thrown
the contest back into the melting pot, leaving Grove in pole
position by the slimmest of margins.

Although Grove now have the bit between their teeth, captain Kat
Cameron is keeping her feet firmly on the ground.  “With the
surprising result last weekend it would foolish for us to think
that all we need to do is beat Wanderers, we must focus on winning
one game at a time on Sunday.”

The Tayside rivals meet head to head in a possible league
decider, but Cameron is first to remember that it was Wanderers who
won the first encounter 5-2, Amy Rowan (2), Rachael Osborne, Julie
Bryce and Sam Sangster getting the goals.

“As a team we have reflected on the last Wanderers` game and
have used the result as a positive tool to learn from,” said
Cameron.  “As a consequence, we will go into this game fully
prepared and confident in our own ability.”

As for Wanderers, they seem to have taken their eye off the
ball, upset perhaps by the back injury that has plagued their
goalkeeper Carmin Dow.  But the international keeper has
declared herself fit for Sunday and is “raring to go” after a month
out.

Dow is undaunted by the recent reversal.   “The defeat
we suffered last week has only made us more determined. We had a
bad game, sometimes that happens. We are looking forward to the
games this weekend to rectify all that went wrong on Sunday.”

There is still a confidence our there in the Wanderers`
camp.   “We had a good win over Grove earlier in the
season and I’m confident this will be replicated on Sunday,” 
Dow said.   “We have been working hard at training and
I’m sure this will be evident on the court at the weekend.”

The destiny of the title may yet be decided by goal difference,
and here again the pendulum seems to swung the way of Grove. 
In their other games Cameron`s charges take on CALA Edinburgh and
Reid Kerr College Kelburne, six points and 17 goals with one reply
was the outcome earlier in the season.  Wanderers certainly
have bottom side Grove A to play, but there final encounter is
against third placed Milne Craig Western.   The Glasgow
side are out of the running for the title, but this is not the sort
of fixture to have to notch up a barrow load of goals to win the
title.

It could be a very close call, but there is a feeling that the
initiative has transferred to Grove and they could sneak the
championship away from Wanderers.

The race for fourth spot and a place in next weekend`s knock-out
cup is between CALA and Kelburne.   This is a tight
encounter, CALA are two points ahead but the Paisley side have a
game in hand.  The Edinburgh outfit could put the issue beyond
doubt if they beat Grove`s second string, while Kelburne may
struggle to pick up points against Grove and Western.

Newcomers Granite City Wanderers have done well to retain their
top flight status and they finish their campaign against Kelburne
and last week`s shock-troops Clydesdale.
