A dozen for Kelburne
ABERDEEN ASSET MANAGEMENT NATIONAL LEAGUE
Scotland striker Alan Forsyth was on target with four
goals as Glynhill Kelburne started the defence of their Aberdeen
Asset Management league title with a crushing 12-2 defeat of AAM
Gordonians at Bellahouston.
The writing seemed on the wall for the Aberdonians in only four
minutes when Forsyth opened with a simple tap in following a cross
by Jonny Christie. Back came Gordonians and Martin
Babicki equalised, but immediately after Forsyth made it 2-1 with a
reverse stick shot into the roof of the net. The
champions then scored at will, on his league debut for Kelburne Ben
Peterson made it 3-1 with a low slap, Mark Ralph notched the fourth
from the spot, Michael Christie had a simple tap in, and Peterson
got his second before the break to make it 6-1 for the home
side.
It looked very ominous for the visitors to Bellahouston when
Michael Christie again, Lee Morton and Forsyth for his hat-trick
all scored in the space of three minutes early in the second
half. There was then a lull and Joel Evans pulled one
back for Gordonians, but the avalanche started again as Jonny
Christie, Peterson for his hat-trick, and Forsyth completed the
scoring for Kelburne.
The game was a special occasion for 16-year-old Jack McAllister,
he made his league debut for Kelburne.
Grange began their campaign with a convincing 6-1 victory over
AMN Hillhead at Peffermill. The Edinburgh side were two up at
the interval, Martin Kelly stole the ball with a brilliant
interception, fed it on to Phil Sully for the opener, then at a
penalty corner Gary Cameron`s rather weak shot found its way under
the goalkeeper.
Rob Barr finished the game off as a contest from the spot after
a stick tackle on Kelly in the circle, then Sully made it four with
a thin deflection on a cross by Cammie Fraser. Although
Hillhead got a goal back, Barr made it 5-1 with another penalty
after an illegal foot on the line by a defender and Adam Fallis
completed the Grange scoring from another deflection.
Grove Menzieshill also picked up three points in a less than
convincing 3-0 win over Edinburgh University. Ross
Stott, on his league debut for the Taysiders, scored the only goal
of the first half, but after the interval Chris Wilson and Paul
Martin added another two.
