Emerging Girls Final – Lightning 5-1 Thunder

Lightning won the Emerging Girls Brave Cup Final with a sensational 5-1 victory over Thunder at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.

Glasgow Green was in blazing sunshine as the contest got underway. It was a good start for Lightning, when Larissa Hogg deflected home for an early goal to give Lightning a 1-0 lead.

Lightning continued to edge the play and it went to 2-0 in the second quarter when a low corner strike by Sophie Hogarth fired against the back board.

Hannah Law then made it 3-0 for Lightning when she finished off a sweet passing move with a far post finish.

Lightning added two more goals to make things safe before Brodie McAnkrah scored at the death to pull one back for Thunder but it was Lightning who won the day 5-1.

Emerging Boys Final – Lightning 3-2 Thunder

The Emerging Boys’ Brave Cup was won by Eastern Lightning with a 3-2 win over Western Thunder at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.

Thunder took the lead with five minutes of the first quarter remaining. A lovely pass by Nicholas Richmond found a Corbin Miller deflection into the net for 1-0.

Lightning struck back at the end of the quarter when a turn and shot by Jonathon Lambert powered against the backboard for 1-1.

The second quarter was a tight affair with both sides going toe-to-toe and playing some great hockey, and it was Lightning who came closest to finding the net with a late effort by Noah Gray that struck the side netting.

Early in the second half Lightning got themselves in front when Alexander Buckley smashed home from close range to make it 2-1.

Thunder bagged an equaliser midway through the final quarter and it was an Adam Jack deflection from a penalty corner that made it 2-2.

Instantly, Lightning struck a third to go back in front, and it was Gray who swivelled and powered a low effort against the board for 3-2.

Thunder made a late push but couldn’t find the net and Lightning took the victory.

Aspiring Girls Final – Thunder 1-1(8-9) Lightning

It took 15 running penalties each for Lightning to win the Aspiring Girls Brave Cup 9-8 in the shootout after a 1-1 draw with Thunder.

The opening quarter was a close contest with both teams holding each other at bay. The best chance fell to Darcy Littlefield who was denied by a solid save.

It was in the second quarter where Lightning struck the opening goal and it was a lovely weaving run and finish by Izzy Molyneux to make it 1-0.

Thunder piled on some good pressure in the third quarter with Ava Graham causing problems but they created no clear chances.

In the final quarter Thunder bagged a deserved equaliser and it was Paige Scherius who slotted home a rebound off the goalkeeper. 1-1.

The sides couldn’t be separated and the final went to a shootout, and what a shootout it was. After 15 penalties each Lightning eventually won 9-8.

Aspiring Boys Final – Thunder 6-3 Devils

Western Thunder won the Brave Cup Aspiring Boys Final 6-3 in a goal-fest against Northern Devils at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.

The game got off to a flying start and it was Thunder who struck first. Charlie Feeney was on point to convert for an early goal to make it 1-0.

In the second quarter Thunder doubled their advantage when they were awarded a stroke. Andrew McGrane stepped up and buried the ball into the bottom left corner. 2-0.

Early in the second McGrane treated the crowd to a moment of magic. He dummied a strike at a penalty corner before stepping into the circle and slamming the ball against the backboard. 3-0.

Thunder made it 4-0 when Angus Miller finished with a low shot across the keeper to finish off a counter attack.

Devils pulled one back from the penalty spot when Findlay Duncan pulled the score back to 4-1. Then they struck again with six minutes to play to make it 4-2.

In the blink of an eye it was 4-3 when Theo Wood deflected a crash ball into the circle to score.

A strike with one minute to play by Murray Bett secured the win for Thunder with a near post deflection. 5-3, and seconds later Bett struck again to make it 6-3 to secure the cup for Thunder.

Emerging Girls – Barbarians 0-1 Devils

Barbarians Emerging Girls pushed Northern Devils all the way but it was the Devils who came out on top with a 1-0 win.

In the blazing sun, a very competitive contest was settled by a single goal which came from Harriet Fleetman at the very end of the match. Fleetman was sent through one-on-one and finished in style to grab victory for the Devils.

Emerging Boys – Barbarians 0-4 Devils

A strong Northern Devils Emerging Boys performance saw them win 4-0 against Barbarians at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.

It took Devils nine minutes to strike and the opener came from the captain, Loghan Steven, to put his side ahead.

Matthew Ogg struck next for the Devils before Owen Wright made it 3-0.

The scoring was completed by Angus Nicol on 42 minutes to give the Devils a solid victory to end their Brave Cup.

Aspiring Girls – Barbarians 4-1 Devils

Barbarians Aspiring Girls etched their names in the Brave Cup history books as the first Barbarians squad to claim victory with a 4-1 win over Northern Devils.

The Barbarians making their first ever appearance took only a minute to score and it was Charlotte Barr who scored the first ever Barbarians goal.

Lily Creighton scored next for Barbarians and Barr struck again to put her side into a three goal lead.

Barr then claimed a hat trick to make it 4-0 before Devils retaliated through Anna Green to finish the scoring at 4-1.

Aspiring Boys – Barbarians v Lightning

Lightning Aspiring Boys finished their Brave Cup campaign with a 3-1 victory over Barbarians at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre.

Zak Turtle opened the scoring for Lightning at the end of the opening quarter.

Barbarians held their own until Matthew Leiper made it 2-0 on 36 minutes, but Barbarians quickly bounced back and Cameron Miller pulled the score back to 2-1.

A late goal by Leiper buried the Barbarians comeback and gave Northern Devils a 3-1 to finish Brave Cup 2024.
