Uddingston umpire development going from strength to strength

Uddingston HC Umpire Programme
Uddingston Hockey Club have this season implemented a programme to develop more umpires across all levels of the club that will see the majority of senior players at least C Badged by 2017.
The programme will see all 7 senior teams attend umpire theory / rules update days prior to matches on a Saturday that has so far seen 80 senior members take part and has resulted in us now having 31 badged umpires and 30 members passed their theory test and ready to take part in coaching matches or actual test matches.
The remaining teams Gents 1s and 3s will go through the programme this Saturday with us then looking to get as many members practically coached or tested over the remainder of this and next season.
As well as senior players we are also engaging with youth players by holding similar days but aimed more at explaining the rules with the view of allowing them to develop their umpiring knowledge so that once they are old enough umpiring will be seen as a normal thing that you do as well as playing, coaching etc.

UHC would like to thanks our umpires group for driving this programme forward and in particular Jacqui McDove and Fraser Bell who have worked very closely with West District and Scottish Hockey Umpiring Convenors.
