Record breaking 41 clubs accredited for 2022-23

Scottish Hockey is delighted to announce a record breaking 41 clubs, including ten universities, have been accredited for 2022-23. 37 clubs have achieved Silver Club status and four clubs achieved Gold Club status.

There are four newly accredited clubs in this year’s intake. There are 12 accredited clubs from the East; 15 from the West; eight from Midland; and six from the North including the university clubs.

Congratulations to all clubs who achieved Silver and Gold Accreditation. The time and effort put into gaining this award will impact players, coaches, parents, umpires and officials by underpinning activity with good practice in many settings.

Scottish Hockey’s Club Accreditation Programme has been designed to support the work of clubs who have ambitions to be the best that they can be. Clubs can be awarded Silver of Gold Accreditation based on their application which is reviewed and then supported by Regional Development Team. Increasing participation in hockey, achieving high standards while developing coaches, volunteers and players, is key to a club’s success and Scottish Hockey recognise that none of this would be possible without the dedication of hard-working volunteers across the country and we would like to support and rewards these efforts.

As well as a suite of tools, templates and case studies to help clubs achieve their accreditation status, each club will receive ongoing support from their Regional Development Manager. Once a club has achieved their status there are many rewards and benefits which can be accessed.

One of the Gold clubs is Falkirk and Linlithgow. Michael Watson, Chair, Falkirk and Linlithgow, said, “This has been the culmination of a lot of hard work from the club, and thanks must go to all of those members that have directly contributed to the application, and indirectly, through embedding best practices in all our actions. Whilst it may not seem like much to the general membership, it is a huge achievement to become one of the first East District clubs to achieve this award, and certainly enhances our standing within the sport in Scotland”

Also Gold accredited is University of Edinburgh Women’s Hockey Club. Club President, Eilidh Campbell, said, “EUWHC are so pleased to have gained gold accreditation. Our club has worked really hard to develop and create a club for everyone and anyone and we are really happy that all our hard work has been recognised. We are very excited to work with Scottish Hockey to benefit our club but also hockey as a whole in Scotland”

Harry Dunlop, Director of Hockey at Gold accredited Uddingston Hockey Club, said, “It is a fantastic achievement for the club to be awarded Gold Accreditation for another year from Scottish Hockey, which is as a result of all the volunteers, members and committee’s hard work throughout the year.”
