iKnow: Level 1 umpire course
Looking to get into umpiring? Scottish Hockey are pleased to pilot an online version of our Level 1 umpire course during iKnow month!
The Level 1 course is aimed at aspiring and trainee umpires and replaces the Scottish Hockey ‘C’ Badge qualification. Those who have completed ‘C’ Badge will continue to be recognised as a qualified umpire*.
The online version of this course will introduce individuals to the Rules of Hockey and present attendees with opportunities to discuss umpiring with experienced and qualified tutors.
This course is designed for anyone who is going to be umpiring the 11-a-side game.
- You will need to complete the Online rules test before attending
- The course is made up of 4 modules:
- The game from a players’ perspective
- The role of the umpire
- Player management
- Preparation and planning the next steps
Once attended, guidance will be given on practical training and assessment to earn your Level 1.
iKnow Month
Scottish Hockey has launched iKnow month – four weeks of evening online skills and best practice workshops in January.
These workshops will offer members the chance to sharpen skills in governance; workforce development; media; changing lives; good practice; and parental engagement.
