Develop your coaching skills with the GB Club Coaching Programme
The GB Club Coaching Programme is now open for coaches around Scotland to improve their coaching knowledge and skills.
Scottish Hockey, Hockey Wales and England Hockey have developed a suite of continuous professional development opportunities which are flexible, accessible and inspirational, to better develop and better support you.
There are five sessions with in the programme that will take place over the next year, we currently have two sessions available to book on to. They are engaging sessions of adults and engaging games for children.
The five areas that will be covered are;
- engaging sessions of adults
- engaging games for children
- coaching for talent
- coaching for club players
- integrating goalkeepers

ENGAGING GAMES FOR CHILDREN
By the end of the workshop coaches should be able to:
- Describe and understand the ‘C’ system model of positive development in hockey
- Apply the ‘C’ system model to their current development by putting into practice games from the Coaching Games for Children resources
- Develop practical ideas on HOW to deliver fun, exciting and dynamic games to facilitate effective learning environments for children
- Understand that the game is the teacher, the pitch is the classroom, the coach is the facilitator.
This workshop is designed for coaches that:
- Coach children in any environment (clubs, schools, etc.)
- Want for practical and up to date games to deliver to their players
- Need ideas on how to coach games rather than basic drills
- Want to share ideas and learn from other coaches
29th October – ASV, Aberdeen 6pm
14th November – Inverness 6.30pm
19th November – Peffermill, Edinburgh 7pm
24th November – Glasgow Green Hockey Centre, Glasgow 6pm
4th December – KGV/Rugby Club, Kinross 7pm

ENGAGING SESSIONS FOR ADULTS
By the end of the workshop coaches should be able to:
- Understand where Participation Programmes are aimed at (ie Back 2 Hockey), explain their main participations characteristics and what they want from their sporting experience
- Explain and demonstrate the ‘C’ system to their own coaching
- Use relevant adapted planning material for both longer-term and session planning to keep sessions engaging for participants
- Understand that the game is the teacher, the pitch is the classroom, the coach is the facilitator.
This workshop is designed for coaches that:
- Coach Adult Participation players or beginner adults who are new to the sport
- Want to deliver fun and exciting environments for adults
- Need ideas on how to coach games rather than just the basics
- Want to share ideas and learn from other coaches

12th November – ASV, Aberdeen 6.30pm
26th November – Peffermill, Edinburgh 6.30pm
