Scotland U21 Men were defeated 3-0 by England U21 Men at Uddingston Hockey Club in the last game of a three match series. England won the two previous games as both sides prepare for upcoming European competition.

England began on the offensive and forced an early save from Calum Douglas in goal for Scotland. The ball swept in from the right and a powerful shot was padded clear by the keeper.

Douglas was kept busy in the opening quarter, making a further two near post saves as England peppered the Scotland goal.

Early in the second quarter England took the lead. A lovely combination, and spin, down the right hand side fashion enough space for a powerful low drive into the bottom left corner for 1-0.

Then a sprightly attack opened up Scotland down the left and a far post tap-in made it 2-0.

The second goal sparked a response from Scotland. Tommy Austin weaved his way through the England defence but was denied by a superb diving save under the crossbar.

A fast start to the second half by Scotland almost earned them a goal. A hard pass fizzed into the circle was deflected by Jack Adams, but it went wide of the left post.

As Scotland attacked, England was dangerous on the counter, and it resulted in a third goal. A counter down the left was finished by a thunderous effort from the left of the circle into the bottom right corner. 3-0.

England finished the game strong. Douglas produced an excellent save, low to his right with his leg, from an England corner early in the final quarter.

Then when England looked certain to score a fourth in the final minute, Douglas launched himself forward to make a superb save and deny the goal.
