Dundee Wanderers targeting title success
Dundee Wanderers could wrap up the Men’s Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 2 title, and promotion to Division 1, this weekend.
If they can secure three points from their matches against Aberdeen GSFP (Sat, 14.30, Mayfield Park) and Dundee University (Sun, 13.30, Riverside Park) the Dundonians will return to Division 1.
Falkirk GHG remain in second position and a win away to relegation candidates Alpha Data Carnegie (Sat, 14.30, HMS Caledonia) would strengthen their case for securing the play-off spot.
However, third place McWhinney Uddingston have two games in hand on their promotion and can maintain their pursuit of the play-off spot if they can record wins against St. Andrew’s University (Sat, St.Andrew’s University, 12.00) and Aberdeen GSFP (Sun, Bellahouston, 12.00).
Elsewhere, Highland are away to Granite City Wanderers (Sat, Aberdeen Sports Village, 15.00) and at home to St. Andrew’s University (Sun, Bught Park, 13.30).
The top two clash in Men’s Aberdeen Asset Management National League Division 3 tomorrow as leaders Erskine Stewart’s Melville host Harris Academy FP (Sat, Inverleith, 12.00).
A win for the home side would guarantee promotion to Division 2 and put them in a strong position to win the title.
FMGM Monarchs are still very much in the promotion hunt. The Taysiders face a tricky tie against Aberdeen University but will be confident of a win having defeated the students 2-1 earlier in the season.
Ayr can also stay within touching distance of the promotion spots if they can defeat Perthshire at home (Sat, Cambusdoon, 15.00).
Meanwhile, Stirling University travel to Chapman Motherwell (Sat, 14.00) and Strathclyde University are at home to 2020 Renewables Greenock.
