Tayside & Fife Coaching workshop

Tayside & Fife Hockey Coach Education Programme

Monday evening saw 18 coaches attending the first of 10 coach education workshops as part of the new hockey specific coach education programme delivered in partnership with SportScotland.

 

This programme has been devised through consultation with local clubs and is designed to provide hockey coaches with the tools to develop local players to enable them to reach their potential within the sport. The programme will endeavour to provide coaches with information and support from a wide range of expertise, including coaches and tutors, which can be put into practice within a club setting.

 

A group of 20 coaches will be a part of the 10 workshop programme from now until May 2016 where the programme will be closed by Scottish Hockey National Coaches delivering a session to the group. The impact of the programme will be measured via coach’s feedback and continued support by Sportscotland and Scottish Hockey locally.

 

The topic of Monday’s workshop was “Understanding Talent” and was delivered by local Institute of Sport tutors. Coaches from 7 local clubs were in attendance and feedback so far has been very positive on both the workshop content and the information sharing across clubs.

 

Our next workshop “Engaging Games for Children” will take on Monday 28th September with 10 coaches already confirmed to attend.
