Scottish umpire off to the World Cup

Scottish Umpire Martin Madden is jetting out to The Hague to umpire the Hockey World Cup that starts in one day time.

This a great achievement for the Clydesdale based umpire, after umpiring the Scottish Cup finals last weekend.

This will be Martins biggest tournament to date, after umpiring the final of the Champions Trophy, the Delhi Commonwealth Games and more recently European Championships last year.

He is part of the road to Rio programme and will be looking forward to umpiring at this summers Commonwealth games in Glasgow.

We wish Martin the best of luck for the World Cup, his first match is on Monday England v India showen on Sky Sports.
