Scottish Hockey’s First Ever Walking Hockey Festival, Saturday 27th May
Scottish Hockey will be hosting it’s first Walking Hockey festival on Saturday the 27th of May 2023 at Uddingston Cricket and Sports Club.
Walking Hockey is growing in popularity, due to its inclusive nature and emphasis on individuals’ enjoyment over ability. This initiative is designed to encourage everyone to be active regardless of health, age, or ability. It allows people to build their confidence in a relaxed, friendly environment and improve their mental health. The Walking Hockey festival is the perfect opportunity to get involved, stay active and socialise with likeminded people. The festival is intended to be an inclusive festival for all abilities and ages 14+.
From 12pm, you can pick up a stick, develop your hockey skills and play some friendly games.
Uddingston Hockey Club will be kindly serving refreshments and food in the club house where you are welcome to stay for a cuppa and a chat.
Entry on the day is £5 per person which can be paid by cash or card – if you do require financial assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Mekala.
You are invited to register for the event as individual players today. Click here to reserve your space now!
If you require assistance to reserve your space or have any further questions, please contact Mekala on [email protected]
Let’s Talk About Walking Hockey:
Prior to the festival, Scottish hockey will be running a Let’s Talk About Walking Hockey information session on Wednesday the 17th of May at 7pm online via zoom.
This free support session will include case studies from walking hockey groups and discussions on how individuals started, why they play and how you can set up the initiative within your club. The session will provide the perfect opportunity to learn and ask questions of clubs who have successfully implemented walking hockey.
If you are interested in joining the session please register here.
