Scotland lose out to England
Scotland went down 3-1 to a truncated England side, although five
Great Britain squad players were in their ranks, part of the early
build-up for the first round of the World League in Portugal later
this summer.
The Scots found themselves two down at the interval, but pulled one
back in 50 minutes, Adam MacKenzie`s drag flick was blocked by the
English goalkeeper and Fergus Dunn, now playing for English side
Surbiton moved in to slot home the rebound. Any revival was
effectively stifled when the English restored their two goal lead
with a scrappy goal five minutes later.
“We played much better today, we were much better going forward but
we didn`t get the outcomes or the penalty corners we were looking
for, but we also gave England two goals, so we need to tighten up
here,” said Eugene Connolly, Scotland`s manager. “But we`ve
now played five games in eight days against quality opposition in
Spain and England, and we know a lot more about the squad than we
did before.”
