Jimmy Culnane joins Scotland women coaching team
Jimmy Culnane has been announced as Assistant Coach of the Scotland Women’s National Team.
Jimmy is Director of Hockey at Wimbledon HC and Talent Academy Wimbledon Boys Coach. Prior to this he worked as Head of Hockey at Surbiton High School for ten years and at Surbiton HC in a variety of roles including five years as assistant coach to the men’s first team.
Having worked on every rung of the player pathway and single system ladders, he now coaches the England U16 Boys, which he will continue to do alongside assisting with the Scotland Women’s National Team.
Jimmy holds an Msc in Performance Coaching and a PGCert in Sports Management from the University of Stirling. He is a graduate of the GB Advanced Coach Program, the EuroHockey Top Coach Program and is an FIH High Performance coach (L5) Candidate.
Culnane, said, ‘I am delighted to have the chance to work with such a talented and ambitious group. I hope to add value where I can, and look forward to the ride. Thanks to Chris and Scottish Hockey for the opportunity, I hope to be able to repay that confidence with the effort I will bring to the programme.’
Scotland Women’s Head Coach Chris Duncan added, ‘I am absolutely thrilled to have Jimmy on board. He brings a fresh and different perspective to the programme and our philosophy, and will add tremendous value to our on the ball game with his skillset and strengths.
‘His varied background across club and youth international game gives him a wonderful insight and rounded knowledge which will assist us in achieving our goals.
‘It is an extremely busy summer period, and a very exciting one, with numerous challenges as we build towards the ‘A’ Division in Monchengladbach, so it is a great time to bring Jimmy on board’
